With smooth lanes, wide open spaces, and honest to goodness backyards it’s no surprise that most of the building in the greater St. John’s metro region is taking place along the periphery. But people are still building downtown — putting up whole new houses, or significantly remodeling older ones.

I was born and raised in downtown St. John’s. My children grew up here and now my grandchildren are enjoying the downtown lifestyle. It is definitely the best place to live. There is nothing better than taking a stroll through the downtown area admiring all the heritage houses, the bustling streets, the quaint shops, the familiar neighborhoods of my childhood. The Downtown area is not a place for High Rises, Condos, or Multi Story office buildings. There are lots of places in and around St. John’s that can support large business complexes. All those in favor of preserving the heritage of Downtown St. John’s say Aye.
