Workshop Description: Whether you work in clay, textiles or metal, design is the common language of craft. Effective design is a powerful tool in expressing concepts, evolving a distinctive style and creating memorable objects. This day-long, hands-on workshop is ideal for any craftsperson interested in polishing their two and three-dimensional design skills.

Master metalsmith, designer and educator Don Stuart is prepared to work with emerging and established craftspeople in a variety of media. Drawing on his thirty plus years of experience of teaching in art colleges, workshops, running his own craft business and earning prestigious commissions and awards, Stuart is an invaluable resource for practicing craftspeople in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Workshop Description: Buttons are a great way to extend your product line, price range and client base. This workshop will appeal to metalsmiths with varying degrees of experience. The techniques taught can also be applied to pendants and brooches.

In 1969, Don Stuart initiated the unique weaving project for Inuit women at Pangnirtung, on Baffin Island, Nunavut. This environment is the source of inspiration for many of his designs. Today, this project thrives as a very successful enterprise and is the largest handweaving studio in Canada. Stuart is also the founder of the Jewellery and Metals program at Georgian College in Barrie and is much sought after as an inspiring workshop leader. He has received over thirty major awards for his designs in gold, silver, platinum and diamonds.
