Geeks from Logy Bay to Carbonear and back again are weeping at the news that Sony has decided to pass up the opportunity to film the newest live-action Spiderman movie in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
“My Spider senses aren’t tingling” said one despaired nerd on his Hi5 page. There was a moment of silence on the Newfie Dungeons and Dragons Message Boards. Steve from the shore says he collected spiderwebs in his community to create one giant spiderweb he thought would be “cool” to use downtown in the movie for “no reason”.
The provincial government has expropriated the giant spiderweb to use in its pilot moose project along the highway.

Meanwhile, Sony representatives say that the newest Spiderman movie has actually already been filmed and is in post production – and that there never was a chance the movie would take place anywhere but where it is set: New York.
Below is a video depicting how The Newfoundland Free Press staff believe that Spiderman might swing from building to building in downtown St. John’s.
