The 2013 Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival in pictures

By: | August 12, 2013

Day Three…

After practically dismantling the field on Saturday evening – and following an impromptu mini festival at The Ship Pub Saturday night – Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival organizers had Bowring Park back in tip-top shape on a sunny, clear Sunday morning.

The Neil Murray Stage, a youth tent where many prominent local musicians got their start, saw a number of new and familiar faces playing traditional music. The food vendors had everything from vegetable curry to toutons, and the mix of talent on the main stage was just as varied.

Many people wondered, coming into this festival, if the shift from Bannerman to Bowring would be a deterrent for longtime patrons. Even if the bus schedules were a bit more difficult to figure out, the payoff in the setting was praised by most people I spoke with.

Music from the Big Land, Vancouver, Australia, Ireland, and Conception Bay all had a place as the 37th annual folk fest came to its close. Here is our final look at the event, and a promise that we’ll be right back here again, same time next year.
