Thank you for the beautiful description of what it feels like for one's heart to be 'kid'napped, especially for the first time, and for amplifying my understanding of the stressful experience of TTC.

As an infertility and multiple miscarriage survivor, the pin cushion, the fielding questions from family, friends, coworkers and strangers, etc., it becomes a roller coaster. Using that term certainly doesn't mean it's a thrill ride either.

The main ingredients to surviving, baby or no baby, is to communicate, create a support system of strength (make this an exclusive community and be picky!), implement daily self-care and truly let go of being married to all the numbers the medical community throws at you.

Adopt the attitude that people beat the odds everyday...people beat cancer, people have their MS go into remission and people who struggle with infertility have babies. Positive attitudes and feelings during the infertility process can do wonders! I don't say that being flip either, sure you will have disappointments and need to experience those feelings; however, find a way to strike a balance. It's the key to any struggle in life. Blessings to all couples dealing with infertility and miscarriage.

The very idea of a seperately governed Labrador by Labradoreans just makes sense. Why we have to look up and see the Idea of MF being promoted as a good Project is just plain stupid, from and environmental, and economic stand point. Labradoreans should have the first and final word on this Project. MF is not being developed for either Labrador or Newfoundland. It is being developed as a project to allow Nalcor to hook deeper into all taxpayers pockets. This project is not about profit or logic. When will we all see this clearly? It's about the corporate heads tapping into the tax tariff. Think about all of the effort it will take to build this whole thing. The only thing will chage is holyrood will have a back up. All of this for a mere 350MW for the Island. They have that much and more on their doorstep. As for NS getting power from this source, this is just plain stupid. Already we are seeing a new corporation, N/L Emira. This now corporation will also be skimming tax dollars. Tax tariff only needs a scheme to make it work, and MF is that scheme. Quebec Hydro is sitting and waiting with a 5.2 cents pkw, how will NS ignore that and begin to buil a 2B+ sub sea cable?

If I may respectfully address Norman on this issue of separation...How does Newfoundland expect to do without Labrador and its resources if it separates from Canada? With what's found at present and what's to be found in future, my guess is that strong consideration will be 1.to find ways to stay or 2. to find more clever ways to steal. So far, the latter has been the order of the day. Labrador needs first of all to wake up, stand up and stop taking the rape of resources as an inevitable behavior. Even if the governors of Labrador wanted to take care and do things right up until present, they have with the already signed agreements set a scary precedent. So, you are in my opinion right, in saying that Labrador needs to hurry..... But the hurry should be to change their own mind set, rather than avoid having to leave Canada. "Ownership" only comes with winning the minds and hearts of people. The legal foray has been successful, maybe because it's the only way to steal(to date). The government needs to start asking for things that they would like to have shared with them and include all of Labradors people in the asking. One kind lady who I care about, suggested that maybe were better off with the devil we know, and I was quickly reminded of a quote from a dear friend, who said, " If we were alone, or with any other province it couldn't be any worse than having everything taken from you" and that is about where I stand on the matter. Let's hire a Governor from the street any where in Canada. It couldn't be any worse than having control of nothing.

Hey Sherrie, glad you made it to Austin! I've lived here for a almost a decade and haven't seen a single gun battle/shootout at high noon. Actually, the only gun I've seen, period, has been a friend's. I guess those are the benefits (err..) of a concealed license!

Another reason I love Japan, especially Kyoto where I find myself. You can't walk ten minutes from a train station without tripping over second hand bookstores here. though foreign book sections are smaller and sometimes hard to find. Makes encountering one all the more special. They also have a Used Book Festival once a year in fall and fill a temple grounds with tarped bookstands and thousands of old books.

An astonishing number of first year students at MUN have readily told me they have never read a complete novel. I find this disconcerting, not so much because I feel there is something holy about reading books, but because it indicates a lack of curiosity in youth (millions of books out there... there must be at least one you'll like). The blame for this falls squarely on our society itself for not fostering the intellectual development of young people.
