A link to our past: view all of The Independent’s print archives from 2003-2007 through a unique new technology – making online reading more interactive than ever.

The summer of 2011 saw our team undertake an enormous task: making The Independent’s run in print available to our readers online. This project was an important one for us, as we believed that creating a tangible link to our publication’s past was crucial in helping us to move forward.

We hope that you enjoy looking through an award-winning piece of Newfoundland and Labrador’s history and culture – in this new interactive medium.

Use the links below to view the published paper from each date. Though we have brought 95% of the print archives back to life, we are still searching for the resources to complete the archive. Click here to see the issues we are still working on, and please contact us if you can help us finish the job.

    Jordan, the rationale is that we don’t have access to the 2007-2008 digital files. We are searching for them, and of course hope to have the complete archive here one day.

    Why do you only have archived articles and stories up to November 30th of 2007? What is the rationale behind this? Can we ever hope to see issues of The Independent from December 2007 to July/August of 2008 onward being digitized and put online?
