Perchance Theatre: Sharon King Campbell’s The Mermaid, A Staged Reading

September 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This Saturday September 10th at 2pm, Sharon King Campbell will be closing out Perchance Theatre’s Open Sky Series with a staged reading of The Mermaid!
The Mermaid is an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea set in present-day rural Newfoundland. Ellida has moved from her resettled coastal community to a larger, riverside town with her husband and his daughters, but she doesn’t really fit in. When she’s approached by a figure from her past, she must decide between her stable, stagnant life now, or an unknown and potentially dangerous adventure. The Mermaid is a story about choice, agency, and finding out what you really want.
With direction by Danielle Irvine, dramaturgy by Ellen Peterson, puppetry consultation by Jamie Skidmore and stage management by Jordan Vincer Featuring Bridget Wareham, Paul Rowe, Zara Matthews, Nicole Redmond, Patrick Foran, Cam Johnston, Lynn Panting and Owen Van Houten.
The workshop and reading are supported by ArtsNL, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Playwrights’ Atlantic Resource Centre.
