John Baker has become a leader in the fight for clean water. Baker has been circulating a petition which demands safe, clean water for George’s Brook and Milton just outside of Clarenville. The town has regularly seen boil orders for the past 30 years, but the current order has lasted now for over a year. “You can’t wash your underwear,” joked Baker. “When your underwear comes out of the wash there’s more skid marks on it than when it went in.” But the issue is serious, and a very common one in our province – many towns across Newfoundland and Labrador have been on permanent boil orders for many years.
