The Newfoundland and Labrador government is expected to speak today about a new plan to curb collisions between moose and vehicles. Government statistics released several years ago estimated about 700 moose-vehicle collisions each year. Until now, the government has resisted tactics such as widespread fencing seen in other provinces and locations worldwide, saying that fencing all highways would be exorbitantly expensive. Transportation Minister Tom Hedderson will speak at 10:30 this morning. Stay tuned.
