Bell Island residents are demanding that the provincial government find a solution to restore confidence in the breakdown-prone ferry service back and forth between the island and the bigger island – namely a new ferry. There are two vessels currently make the rounds, however the ferries currently in use have been breaking down regularly and providing what Wabana Mayor Gary Gosine describes as long delays. During the last two weeks, some residents were at the dock by 4 a.m. to ensure they could be at work before 9 a.m., he said.
