Newfoundland sports fans, however, were not quite as lucky. After running into a monstrous hit from the Detroit Red Wings’ Nikolas Kronwall in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it was no secret that San Jose Shark (and as it happens, Newfoundlander) Ryane Clowe didn’t seem himself. It turns out that Clowe suffered a separated shoulder, and played through it for the rest of the playoffs. His separated shoulder was so painful and his movement so restricted, his teammates said he needed help just getting his jersey on. He may not have won the cup, but he certainly made the province proud.
