The provincial government has invested $500,000 in NavSim Tehcnology, helping the St. John’s company to target new international growth for its navigation software. NavSim’s software helps reduce the risk of collision or grounding for recreational boaters and major ship traffic alike, and already enjoys a 90% market share in the Canadian piloting industry. NavSim Technology began as a research initiative within NRC-IOT (National Research Council Institute for Ocean Technology) and in 2002 separated to become its own private business.
