Moose are all over the news these days… Parks Canada’s decision to allow 500 hunting licenses for the previously untouchable Gros Morne National Park area was based on improving the health of the forest. The large moose population is having negative effects on the condition of the forest, and Parks officials are hoping that a long term plan to reduce the moose population will have a positive effect. Hunting of course will not take place near popular tourist destinations in the park.
