More and more Nova Scotians are coming to Newfoundland and Labrador for their education; the number of students from Nova Scotia enrolled at Newfoundland and Lab¬rador’s Memorial University increased by 1,079 per cent from 1997 to 2009. A new study by researchers at MUN’s faculty of education found lower tuition is the main factor driving students to Newfoundland and Labra¬dor and notes that while average tuition fees increased by 7.7 per cent in Nova Scotia from 1999 to 2009, average fees in Newfoundland dropped by 37.4 per cent. That could mean a $3,133 difference in tuition between the two provinces.
