A massive service disruption occurred this morning after construction crews on the Trans-Canada Highway mistakenly cut fibre optic cables. The service affected cellular, phone, television, and internet service the morning – particularly for Rogers customers. Rogers has now restored service for customers from St. John’s to Corner Brook. A spokesperson for Rogers says that crews were dispatched to repair the fibre break around 8 a.m. and service was restored just before 1 p.m.. A full investigation is now underway. The province can now take a deep breath, as they are once again able to connect to TheIndependent.ca.
