The Premier also made some strong remarks yesterday with reference to the reform of Canada’s Senate. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservative government is planning to introduce legislation in the coming year to allow provinces to elect their own Senators and to limit the time in which a Senator can serve. The changes would require that the provinces agree to them. Kathy Dunderdale says she agrees in principle with the legislative reform but wants approval from the electorate before calling such a vote. In her opinion, if someone is going to represent the province, that person should have “the blessing of the people”.
