The extensive weekend search in Labrador for a missing snowmobiler has ended tragically. The body of a 37-year-old woman was located yesterday evening, about 16 kilometres south of Natuashish. Police say they received a report late Friday night that two snowmobilers had gone missing. They were travelling from Hopedale to Natuashish when the snowmobile they shared had reportedly gotten stuck in snow. Once stuck, they decided to set out on foot. RCMP officers say that, at some point, the two became separated and the other male traveller spent the night in the woods. Another passing snowmobiler picked him up the following morning. Police say that blizzard conditions hampered search efforts and may be the reason the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, did not survive.
