The official reopening of the St. Lawrence fluorspar mine is being called a great day for the town, for the Burin Peninsula, and for the entire province. A formal ribbon cutting ceremony took place yesterday, marking the commencement of a $100-million project that will see the mine reopened. The mine had been closed for decades.
