61% of Canadians headed to the polls for the Federal election on May 2 this year, while nearly 40 per cent of eligible voters did not. 30.4 per cent of those that did not vote did not do so because they were not interested. 19.3 per cent said they were too busy. 8.8 per cent said illness or disability got in the way, while 7.9 per cent of people from this province who did not vote said they declined to vote because they did not like the candidates.
