The west coast of the island appears to be narrowing in on a waste management strategy. Amid frustrations that the region has been too far behind the rest of the island in its actions and accusations that the process has taken too long, Municipal Affairs Minister Kevin O’Brien hopes to have a final recommendation made to him within the next month or two. The recommendation will either conclude the west develop its own facilities or transport its waste to facilities in central Newfoundland at Norris Arm.
