The Winnipeg Free Press (of all publications) takes an interesting look at the changing dynamic between our Premier, Kathy Dunderdale and Prime Minister Stephen Harper during this election. Just two years ago, Dunderdale’s view of Harper was so low that she was campaigning door-to-door with Liberal candidates. Now that Dunderdale and members of her cabinet are openly supporting Harper, with such a drastic turn of events two possibilities exist – either Dunderdale & company went along for the ABC ride against their will two years ago and were seemingly powerless to resist, or Harper is now dangling some rather large carrots. In either case, the WFP makes light of an embarrassing Newfoundland statistic – our voter turnout was 11% less than the national average last year; less than half of Newfoundlanders made the effort in 2008.
