Meanwhile a fire in Elliston on the Burin peninsula on Sunday has left a family of 11 homeless. Reports say the family’s father helped get all 9 children out of the house, but a lack of water pressure hindered firefighters as they battled the blaze, even though they had hooked up a hose to a hydrant near the house. Crews pumped water from a nearby stream to bring the fire under control. Firefighters from nearby communities helped in the response.
