Tense moments on passenger flights can sometimes be caused by unruly passengers. Newfoundland & Labrador has been a destination of sorts for international flights having to land because of such unruly passengers. Passengers are typically taken into police custody, and issued a significant fine of up to $10,000. However, it now appears that many of these fines are simply left unpaid by international travellers, leaving many in the Public Prosecution Service of Canada who have to work hard to collect these moneys upset… whom we hope aren’t reading this on a tarmac.
