Another new office development downtown

Councillor Frank Galgay says that another new office building is being planned for the lower west end of Downtown St. John’s. The proposal, led by Dean McDonald, bends the current city guidelines for that area as its design is for 8 stories while regulations currently state 4 is the maximum. However, the west end of downtown has also been designated recently by council as an appropriate area for higher density development. Galgay likes the proposal; it remains to be seen how the rest of council feels. In the meantime, below is a google map which outlines the possible development area, and a picture of the proposed building courtesy of NTV.
