Are Newfoundlanders actually voting this time around?

According to Elections Canada, more than 17,000 people in Newfoundland & Labrador cast their votes in the advance polls over the Easter long weekend. This represents a 67 per cent increase in advance poll voting compared to the 2008 election, and is significant considering that Newfoundland had the worst voter participation rate in all of Canada in 2008 – with less than 50 per cent of its population bothering to have their say. However, only time will tell if these are the same voters just getting an early jump on the election, or these numbers actually represent any new voters.
