Battle of the Newfoundlanders on ice heats up

Two Newfoundlanders are lighting the lamps at an unprecedented rate in the NHL playoffs, fighting for the right to represent Newfoundland in the Stanley Cup Final. With Ryane Clowe’s San Jose Sharks now out of contention and a dream all-Newfoundland final no longer possible, it’s up to either Teddy Purcell of the Tampa Bay Lightning or Michael Ryder of the Boston Bruins to bring the cup back to the rock – and both players are making a statement. Teddy Purcell has 5 goals and 1 assist in 6 games, while Michael Ryder has 3 goals and 3 assists. The seventh and deciding game in the semi-final series takes place tomorrow night.
