Canada Post employees show up to work in NL

Workers reported to work in St. John’s and Corner Brook Tuesday morning despite being told by Canada Post that they were not needed. The carriers in St. John’s said there was enough mail inside the terminal to deliver Tuesday and Canada Post’s action amounted to a lockout. About15,000 postal workers walked off the job overnight Toronto and Montreal, the next targets of ongoing rolling strikes across the country. Canada Post said mail volume is down 20 to 50 per cent since the walkouts began June 3, which has meant $65-million in lost revenue.
