Canada Post strike imminent

With a strike deadline just 24 hours away, there has not been much progress between Canada Post and the Canadian union of Postal Workers representing its employees. Canada Post says that the union’s latest proposal would cost the corporation $1-billion – and those costs would have to be passed on to Canadian consumers. Canada Post is hopeful that a strike at midnight Thursday won’t happen – and feels that the offered maximum pay rate of $26 per hour and a 3% bonus each year is very generous. One way or another, Thursday will bring answers for Newfoundlanders.
