Caribous win the Allan Cup

The Clarenville Caribous went on this past weekend to win it all at the national senior amateur men’s hockey championship. The Caribous captured the Allan Cup by beating the Bentley Generals 5-3 in the championship game. The team, and the game’s final moments, were featured by Don Cherry on Hockey Night in Canada. The Allan Cup was first awarded in 1909,and was last won by a Newfoundland team in 1986 by the Cornerbrook Royals — the only other Newfoundland team to ever win it.
