During an interview on Friday, former premier Danny Williams said he’s adamant the province would see 20 times return on the investment of an AHL team, and that the economic spin-off would be in the range of 10 million dollars annually. Given the lack of government support for the investment, he feels the situation must be personal. He wasn’t expecting a favourable decision from his successor, Premier Kathy Dunderdale, explaining that while Terry French has been the face behind the decision, he’s not the one making the call. Not surprisingly, Williams says that if he were still premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, the AHL’s return to the capital city would have been a done deal.
