The province experienced a string of household fires over the weekend, and one in Codroy Valley ended in a death. An early morning fire this morning on Newfoundland’s southwest coast resulted in the death of a 55 year old woman who was trapped inside her burning home. A man who had been in the house managed to get out and was taken to hospital. RCMP said that when emergency personnel arrived on the scene, the house and a vehicle in the driveway were burning – and suspect the fire may have been caused by candles.
