Department of Tourism and WestJet partner for giant contest

Newfoundland and Labrador ‘s Department of Tourism is pairing up with WestJet to launch what is being heralded as one of the biggest travel contests in the province’s history. At noon this Wednesday the 48 Half Hours contest will launch online via Facebook, giving people across Canada a chance to win one round-trip flight every half hour for a non-stop 48 half-hour period (or 24 hours). People can enter as many times as they like until the contest closes at noon. “There are so many unexpected things to discover in Newfoundland and Labrador,” says Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, “We embrace those differences that make us unique – like our time zone – and we always strive to offer travellers something unexpected. We’re hoping people will jump on board and enter as many times as they can throughout the 48 half-hour period. We’re also counting on Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to be ambassadors, spreading the word, online, to all their friends and family.”
