Dunderdale won’t re-open House to discuss rescue centre closure

re-open the House of Assembly. The provincial Liberal and NDP parties wanted Dunderdale to convene the House to conduct an emergency debate on the Federal government’s closure of the coast guard’s maritime rescue centre in St. John’s, but the Premier says she would rather concentrate on where the discussion really matters – at the federal level. “I haven’t heard one voice in Newfoundland or Labrador that agrees with this decision,” Dunderdale said Tuesday. “So, we need to focus our energy on where the change can happen – and that’s Ottawa, not St. John’s.”
