The provincial government is finally getting involved in what has become a nasty dispute about lobster prices in this province which has seen producers refusing to pay a panel-set price, and harvesters thus looking out-of-province for sales. There has been mounting pressure from the fisheries union on the government to change the rules to officially allow for lobster to be sold outside of the province – to take the power away from processors. Fisheries Minister Clyde Jackman says that a decision is coming soon on the matter.
