Invention detects moose – well, their tag

An Ontario man – originally from this province – is appearing on CBC’s popular reality tv program “The Dragon’s Den” at the end of this month with a product that supposedly will reduce moose-vehicle collisions. James Oakley’s “Moosedar” will warn drivers when a moose is nearby. The catch to the device, and a probable hindrance to its effectiveness in Newfoundland and Labrador, is that it will only detect moose that have been tagged with a reflective beacon. None of the 100,000 + moose here have been tagged with a reflective beacon.
