Joint marketing plan coming for the Fishery

An MOU recommendation calling for increased cooperation between government and those in the fishery in the field of marketing has been embraced by the provincial government. Part of the marketing strategy will be to set up a council which will promote Newfoundland and Labrador seafood in general. The government will also facilitate a consortium of companies so they can work together on branding their products. “We have groups, for example, that are in the province that have a very specific brand,” Fisheries Minister Clyde Jackman said. “They’ve invested in marketing. This will provide the opportunity for some of the smaller companies to work with that larger company so that we have fewer brands, if I can say that, and the smaller players would have access to improved marketing opportunities.”
