Man accused of assaulting police officer also PC candidate

It turns out that the man who allegedly assaulted a police officer with a drill over the weekend is the same man who wants to run for the Progressive Conservatives in the upcoming provincial election for the Port de Grave riding. Released yesterday under the conditions that he keep the peace and abstain from consuming alcohol, he believes the incident will not hinder his political ambitions – and that he is innocent until proven guilty. This will be a riding to watch this Fall.
