A family vacation in Los Angeles earlier this year included an unexpected payday for Mount Pearl native Brittany McCarthy. The 21-year-old woman was selected to “come on down” as a contestant on the long-running American game show “The Price is Right,” which aired yesterday afternoon on CBS. Playing the game “Plinko,” in which chips are dropped down a bean machine-style board to determine the contestant’s winnings, McCarthy won $11,000.
Astonished that producers selected her to appear on the series, McCarthy had to keep her winnings secret for a month, until the show officially aired.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 before the end of the year to solidify our plans for 2023. We need your support to keep producing this progressive, explanatory, and unique local journalism.
