Newfoundland shrinks, and is pretty old

The population of Newfoundland and Labrador took a slight decline this past year. According to Statistics Canada, the population of Newfoundland and Labrador fell by 703 people from July 2010 to July 2011, which pegs our current population at 510,578. We’re the oldest province too – in terms of our people – as the median age of our population is 44; the median age of the entire country’s population is 40.
