And still with Ottawa, surprise Conservative winner in Labrador Peter Penashue was sworn in yesterday as the minister for Intergovernmental Affairs. The appointment was welcomed by all including NL Premier Kathy Dunderdale, Opposition Leader and fellow Labradorian Yvonne Jones, and Grand Chief of the Innu Nation Joseph Riche – who marked the occasion of the first Innu person elected and sent to cabinet as being ‘momentous’. The Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs advises cabinet on policies, communications and parliamentary affairs relating to federal-provincial-territorial relations.
