Quebec denies energy access

The icy relations between Newfoundland and Labrador continue, as Quebec’s energy regulator (for a second time) denied this province access to its electrical transmission system. This denial was in response to Newfoundland and Labrador’s appeal of the original denial. Minister of natural resources Shawn Skinner is disappointed with the result, as NL’s appeal “clearly identified errors in law” in Quebec’s decision. Skinner says the government is reviewing all of its options moving forward to fight the ruling, and notes that the province will “of course” proceed with the development of the Lower Churchill.
