Rogers shutting down 40% of its video stores

Rogers Media is taking another step in letting go of a shrinking arm of its business: the video and game rental business. It was announced today by the company that it will be closing 40% of its video shops, which means 63 stores across the country will be shutting its doors by the end of January – and likely a few across Newfoundland and Labrador too. This news comes months after Blockbuster closed its doors across the province, and one wonders how long Quebecor (who own the Jumbo Video franchises in Atlantic Canada) can continue without closures. Allan’s Video though? Going strong!
