Sentencing today for child neglect case

Today is the day sentencing will be handed down to a central Newfoundland woman charged with child neglect. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty earlier this winter to a charge of failing to provide the necessities of life. Just over a year ago, police went to a home in Grand Falls-Windsor and found a five-year-old boy suffering serious injuries. He spent the next several months at the Janeway in St. John’s, recovering from severe burns to his legs. Other results of his injuries included brain trauma, broken ribs, a broken pelvis and partial paralysis to one arm. A male acquaintance of the woman was charged and sentenced to three years on jail, in connection with the same ordeal.
