And in Placentia a taxi driver is being recognized as a hero for his actions in saving lives in a fire on Saturday. John Mulroney was on the clock when he noticed smoke coming out of the basement of a home. Mulroney immediately called the fire department and entered the home with a firefighter, where they found its occupants still asleep. Mulroney and the firefighter worked together to get a man, a woman, and their pets out of the house. RCMP reports that the fire was caused by faulty electrical in the basement of the house.
