Tories say vote for them… or else!

Conservatives in Newfoundland & Labrador are stepping up the rhetoric surrounding financing for the Churchill Falls project. Despite the fact that both the Liberals and NDP have also guaranteed support for the project, Fabian Manning in Avalon and Loyola Sullivan in St. John’s South-Mount Pearl are warning the public that a potential loan guarantee would be in jeopardy if the Conservatives were not elected to a majority government – based on the fact that Quebec opposes the deal and the Bloc Quebecois would influence other parties to take it off the table. However the strength of that argument is in question, as it was the Conservative party themselves who reneged on an election promise to this province in 2006.
