At least three partygoers were issued a drinking in public ticket on Friday night on Signal Hill after stepping off of a commercial bus with open beers in their hands. This past fall, public scrutiny focused in on many of these commercial bus operators who were allowing drinking to take place in their vehicles – as this was technically against the law. Since the companies were allowed to continue to operate, it was believed that an understanding was made between operators and the police… an understanding that was obviously breached when open alcohol was taken off of the bus.
