in Daily Indygestion/Email Indygestion/Journalism by

The CBC is reporting that St. John’s city hall has admitted flooding this week in an east end neighbourhood is connected to storm sewer construction work nearby. About a dozen homes in the area of Parliament and Yellowknife streets flooded during heavy rain on Wednesday, with some experiencing even more again on Thursday. “Certainly we do apologize for the inconvenience and disruption that’s happened,” said Paul Mackey, the city’s director of public works. “Certainly it wasn’t anticipated, and we had taken measures to make sure as best we could that it wouldn’t.” The city is not yet ready to say whether the city or the contractor is responsible financially for the mess.
