“What we have found that pedestrians are using it like a parking lot, but drivers are coming through like it’s a roadway and the two just don’t mix” says Deanne Fisher, a director at The Rooms. Drivers in the capital city have, for years, routinely cut through the lot at The Rooms to get quickly from Bonaventure Avenue to Harvey Road, but now that shortcut has been barred off by cement barriers. Fisher says safety has been an ongoing concern, and that speed bumps installed last year have not slowed down – let alone stopped – traffic from flowing through the lot.
