Drivers in central now get their chance to test the province’s newest moose-initiative: a detection system along a portion of the highway which will alert them with flashing lights when a moose has been spotted on the road. The system is located just east of Grand Falls-Windsor, and is the second such system to be installed on the island as part of the province’s trials to determine the best method of protection. The system uses sensor technology and flashing warning lights to alert drivers when a large animal is in the highway right-of-way.
