Despite the track in Goulds, harness racing isn’t something that seems to make headlines here in Newfoundland. However it’s a bigger attraction on the mainland, and Bobby Clarke – a 19 year old Toronto native who grew up in St. John’s – is discovering so. Clarke was “raised on racing” at our only racetrack – the St Johns Racing and Entertainment Centre. “I was five when Dad got our first horse. My grandmother worked at Greenwood Racetrack for many years and so did my father when he was 15. That is where Dad got hooked on racing and has loved it ever since. He passed the racing bug on to me and I’m happy about that.” Check out the interesting profile of Clarke at HarnessLink.com, along with video of him racing.
